The cannabis-infused health drink has proven extremely popular at the Windsor Farm Shop, which is situated on the edge of Windsor Great Park in Berkshire.
Queen Elizabeth’s famous farm shop sells goods from the royal estates, such as fresh farm produce, royal memorabilia, limited-edition china and traditional sweets.
Cannabis drink said to bring balance and clarity
The 250ml, 21-calorie drink is available in four flavours – peach, ginger, mint, and elderflower. It is said to improve “your mental clarity and your body balance”. The drink also contains ginseng, lemon balm, turmeric and an amino acid called L-theanine.
It contains 15mg of cannabinoid — known as CBD – and sells for £2.19 (R45).
The canned drink is branded with peace V sign on the can. It is marketed as a “guilt-free drink for good times” on the website of the North London-registered company.
Cannabis product also available at other high-end stores
“The drinks are quite quirky but very unusual for a farm shop — especially one run by the Queen,” an insider told The Sun newspaper. “’They are selling out quick. People pick up about seven or eight each time.”
The farm shop is just one of the outlets that stock the product. It is also available in high-end stores like Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Planet Organic, Daylesford Farm and Equinox Studios.
Cannabis drink a stress alleviator
TRIP was founded by husband-and-wife duo Daniel and Olivia Ferdi after Daniel sustained an injury that required knee surgery weeks before his wedding. According to the Daily Mail, he tried CBD oil for rehabilitation and found it helped to alleviate pain and inflammation, and improved his sleep.
He experienced a fast recovery and was crutch-free within weeks. Daniel left his career in finance and dove into researching CBD. The couple launched TRIP in 2019.
Olivia, a Cambridge-educated lawyer, also left her career to launch TRIP. She told Femail:
“We’re thrilled so many customers are finding much-needed calm with TRIP, especially in these particularly tricky times. Lockdown has been very tough and it’s so important to unwind in stressful moments. We created this healthy range based on our struggles with stress, championing quality CBD and botanicals.”
Health benefits of cannabis
CBD is legal in the UK and is a huge health, food and beauty trend in the country. It is used in health products like pain relief gel and kombucha moisturiser, and even in food and drinks like coffee, gin, ice-cream and hummus.
Though research is still ongoing, CBD oil is thought to have certain medicinal properties. These include relieving inflammation, pain and anxiety. As a result, it has become a huge health trend in recent years with many products being infused with the oil.
CBD products are available in many forms, ranging from oil — sprayed under the tongue – to gel tablets that melt slowly in the mouth.
